Whether your child is obsessed with unicorns, LOL Dolls, pink in general or even the new craze of Tiktok, you can find the perfect way to incorporate their passion into their bedroom. Work with your kids to pick a theme that you both love but it is important to remember that the themed bedroom needs to last them a few years otherwise you’ll be redecorating on a regular basis.
Have a search online and you will be able to find the perfect bedding and accessories to make a feature in their brand new bedroom. However, it is important to get the basic bedroom furniture right and they can last the years as your child grows. Themed bedroom just needs the basics, and you can adapt everything else.
Let them Express Themselves
If you really want to give them some free reign with their new themed bedroom design, you could let them express their creativity with a chalk wall for them to doodle as they please or decide on what colours will go where in their bedroom. This isn’t for the faint-hearted but would allow your child to express themselves honestly and maybe reduce how often you need to retheme or redecorate your kid’s bedroom.
Chalk paint can be applied to a range of surfaces and incorporated into sleek designs which can complement the rest of the bedroom furniture. It’s a great way to add self-expression but in a non-invasive way.
Keep things neutral
If you invest in sleek and neutral bedroom furniture and wall colours you can bring in colours and designs through soft furnishings such as duvet covers, throws, cushions and curtains.
A sleek white bed frame is incredibly versatile and will go with every girly bedroom design imaginable. We love our white Nordic playhouse bed frame which can be decorated to create the ultimate girly playhouse in the comfort of their bedroom. Or, to create the go-to boy’s dream den themed bedroom, we don’t think you can be a mid sleeper with plenty of room to safely play and relax underneath and a comfy mid sleeper bed on top.
Create space
To maximise the space in their bedroom you might want to consider investing in a mid or a high sleeper to maximise floor space and available storage. Mid sleepers and high sleepers that incorporate essential storage and furniture reduce the need for additional furniture in your kids bedrooms. Meaning you can optimise how your kids use their room and incorporate more functional space whatever that need may be.
They might be able to play in their bedroom more and let you have a little bit of me-time once in a while in the living room.
New bedding
New bedding is one of the simplest ways to update your kid’s bedroom for summer. You could pick bedding that features their favourite toy, colours they love or the perfect summery vibe to transform their bedroom in an instant. A bed is the main feature in any bedroom so updating the bedding is instantly noticeable.
