As the nights start to get shorter, the autumn evening are well and truely here and we’re looking forwards to getting cosy on an evening instead of enjoying time in the garden, it is time to think about making your kids’ bedroom winter ready for the months ahead. There are many ways you can make your kids beds autumn/winter-ready and give them the perfect place to enjoy heading to bed and relaxing during their free time.

Here are our top tips to make a snug and cosy bedroom perfect for your little one this winter.

The winter is all about getting cosy at home. Create a cosy area your child can enjoy and call their own space. A snug under high sleeper is the perfect space to make a cosy area and update your kid’s bedroom for winter. Other ideas may include adding a chair with comfy throws and pillows to a bedroom, this might even be a sofa chair under a high sleeper to really maximise floor space in your kid’s bedroom.

Get a winter duvet

A winter duvet can make such a difference to ensure that your kids remain warm and don’t stir during the night. A summer tog rating on their duvet could be too low for the colder weather so it is often worth investing in a high tog rating duvet and vacuum pack your spring/summer duvet away for the next 6 months.

If your little one is warm and cosy in bed, the chance that they’ll stir and get out of bed is a lot less. That means you’ll be able to enjoy a little bit of peace and quiet too, potentially even a Saturday morning lie-in is on the cards, fingers crossed!

You can create a whole new atmosphere in your kid’s bedroom just by shaking things up a little bit and mixing up the lighting. Moving furniture around and creating a new space can completely transform their bedroom without doing too much, but most importantly updating the lighting can make a huge change during the winter months.

Make sure you have lighting that creates the perfect cosy atmosphere, especially for storytime at bedtime where you want to get your kids ready for a calming night’s sleep. A mixture of warm ambient lights will help banish the darkness and suit both morning and evening moods when it’s dark early. Rearranging lighting and furniture is a great way of trialling out new ideas to see if the space you already have can create the perfect atmosphere already.

New bedding

New bedding is one of the simplest ways to update your kid’s bedroom for winter. You could pick bedding that features their favourite toy, colours they love or the perfect wintery scene to transform their bedroom in an instant. A bed is the main feature in any bedroom so updating the bedding is instantly noticeable.

Throws and cushions are also an easy way to transform your kid’s bedrooms and add an extra element of cosiness during the winter months.
